Short Bio
After graduating from KAIST with a Ph.D. in physics, I joined Naver cooperation for half a year as a data scientist in 2016. I also had served as a senior research scientist at KISTI, a Korean government-funded institute for data science. In 2020, I joined Smart Systems Software Department at Soongsil University and opened this lab.
Research Interests
My research focuses on understanding human knowledge as a living, interactive network, and investigating how artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming this ecosystem. By applying data science and network science approaches, I explore these dynamics across four core areas:
- Collective Knowledge Platforms: Systemic impacts of generative AI on open and crowdsourced knowledge bases (including Wikipedia, Wikidata, GitHub, and Stack Overflow).
- Scientific Knowledge Evolution: How scientific breakthroughs and technological innovations emerge and spread in academic papers and patents, particularly how LLMs shape citation networks and semantic patterns.
- Creativity in Cultural Domains: Patterns of human expression, consumption, and trends across cultural networks (art and music).
- Ecosystem Pathologies & Scientometrics: Auditing systemic vulnerabilities, citation polarization, predatory publishing, and demographic disparities within the scientific community.
